I smiled when a good friend said, “Steve, I just don’t understand your Art”. To me, art is personal. It should hopefully invoke a thought, a feeling, or perhaps a special memory or desire. It might be the color, the form, or the image but we never really know what will prompt that special connection.
Scottish artist Jack Vettriano said, “I live in a world of heartbreak. I just seem to be more creative when in some sort of emotional distress”. Pablo Picasso said, “There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality”. I agree with them both, and I hope you find something in my art that you enjoy.
